Closing Comments

Well, it has been over a year since I added to this blog page. In the mean time I had another page with a domain I am no longer paying for, so I came back to this one for a visit. I looked at my stats and was surprised to see that I had a bunch of visitors recently. I no longer demonstrate for The Angel Company stamps, as, sad to say, that company closed its doors last year. And I am no longer teaching because I retired last year also. Tim and I sold our house in Virginia and moved to Florida, too. this has been a year of big changes. Sooo..I think Stampin' Teacher is a misnomer for any blog I do.

I am still stamping cards and an occasional gift item or mini album, and I want to continue sharing those with the ethereal world of the Internet...as in does anyone really see these posts? My new blog is up and running. Clink the tab above and it will bring you there. Along with a place to share my art, it will be a blog for my musings about my life in general.

Please stay tuned for whatever comes next. And drop a comment if you happen my way.

A Card a Day Blog Challenge #3

After checking out the Savvy Projects blog and seeing Teresa's Mother's Day card, I was inspired to use that same stamp set to make one for my MIL. I got out my paper scraps(seems like an inappropriate term for these treasures!) and found pieces and a tag from Genevieve and More Mimi solid. The floral background and solid brown(cut with nestabilities) is from a DCWV mat stack. I used Burnt Umber ink and my watercolor crayons to color. I hand wrote the name "Mum" (using a brown Slick Writer)as that is what we call her. I love the effect the little pearls add in the place where brads would normally go.And of course I stamped Happy Mother's Day on the inside with the sentiment from Trendy Greetings(T2144).

A Card a Day Blog Challenge

After checking out the card Debra posted for the "Card a Day in the Month of May" on the savvy Projects Blog, I came up with this sympathy card. I started by trying to turn the layout of the card, and as I tried putting the pieces together, this is what "spoke" to me. I used Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits to color. The stamp, Gerbera Daisy, is a retired stamp but a favorite of mine. I hand wrote the sentiment. The background papers came out of my stash of saved pieces of cardstock. I used pop dots to adhere the daisy on to the card.

Finally Spring!

The weather is finally warming up and I have my stamping juices flowing again. I had a stamp camp last Saturday and the theme was "let's flock!" These are the cards I came up with to teach. I had the felt yellow butterfly ribbon forever and decided it would go well with flocking. The daisy has just a ring of flock in the center. In the next card  the shadow (second step) of the butterfly was stamped with the essential glue pad and flock added over that. The cloud is white flock. And the little butterflies on the last page are cut from the ribbon. Instead of flocking on the butterfly, I applied dimensional glue alone.

Paper Wings Blog Hop PWPs and GWPs

If you have ever ordered from me, you are probably familiar with those little stamps that you get for free or just $2.95 with a $30 order. Well, TAC has been running a Stamp-a-Palooza of a deal where you can tripple these stamps free with a minimum order of $30. Please check out the blogs below to see what fantastic art can be done with these litlle stamps.
I have just figured out how to make easel cards and wanted to try one here. I apologize for the photo-I usually scan my cards, but I wanted you to see it upright. I used the GWP stamp mini damask (TG3434) to create a background with Brilliance Gold Galaxy and then embossed it. Then I sponged three chalk inks(from the Versa Magic Dew Drops set Harvest) over each row and around the edges.I then used a soft paper towel to wipe the ink off the embossed areas. The paper for the cup and mini damask circle is from our newest set Maggie(V847). That's the floral reverse side on the bottom. The cup and sentiment is from the set Coffee Talk(3208). I embossed the cup with black ink and clear embossing powder before coloring it with Copic Markers.

Simple and fast card

I bought a Fiskars border punch today for the first time because I have seen so many neat cards using them. This one is called apron strings, I think. The tag for the sentiment uses the punch, too. I used Kraft paper, red paper, and a piece of designed paper from a DCWV mat stack that I have had forever. The stamp set is Furry Friends (T3245), inked with Burnt Umber Palette. Simple and fast.

Halloween is almost here...

I was checking out my angel friend's blogs and got the idea from Chelsea to make a treat box and Mischelle's card to make this cute little girl into a ghouly girl. She is from the set Delightfully Spooky(T3348). I used stickles on her eyes and wings, and put her face on with a micro pen.I plan to make others with other images from the set for my co-workers and fill with candy.
